About the tool

Compress images without installing software

Toolerd Image Compressor reduces image file size while giving you control over the output quality. It is useful when a photo is too large for a website, form, email attachment, online shop or social media upload.

The tool displays the original and compressed versions side by side, including file size, dimensions and the percentage saved. This makes it easier to choose a balance between image clarity and file size.

Simple process

How to compress an image

1

Choose an image

Upload a JPG, PNG or WebP file up to 25 MB from your computer, tablet or phone.

2

Set the quality

Move the quality slider. Start near 80%, then adjust it if you need a smaller file.

3

Compress and download

Compare the result with the original, then download the optimized JPG to your device.

Why compress images?

Smaller files are easier to use and share

Image compression can reduce upload times, storage use and page weight. It is especially helpful for website images, product photos, portfolios, online forms and email attachments.

  • Faster website image delivery
  • Smaller email attachments
  • Reduced storage requirements
  • Easier uploads on slower connections

Supported formats

Upload any of these popular image formats. The compressed download is provided as a JPG for broad compatibility and efficient photo compression.

.jpg

A practical choice for photographs, product pictures and images with many colours.

.png

Graphics and transparency

PNG uploads are flattened onto a white background before being exported as JPG.

.webp

Modern web images

WebP files can be uploaded and converted into a compressed JPG download.

Your image stays on your device

Compression is performed in your browser with client-side JavaScript. The selected image is not sent to Toolerd for this compression process. Temporary preview links are created locally and cleared when you reset the tool or leave the page.

Common questions

Image Compressor FAQ

Does image compression reduce quality?

Compression can remove some image data, so very low quality settings may create visible softness or artifacts. Start around 80% and compare the preview before downloading.

Can I compress PNG and WebP images?

Yes. You can upload JPG, PNG and WebP files. PNG and WebP inputs are converted to JPG for the compressed download.

What happens to transparent PNG areas?

JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white during conversion.

What is the maximum upload size?

This page accepts a single image up to 25 MB.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. This compressor runs in your browser, so the selected image remains on your device during processing.

Does the tool change image dimensions?

Images wider than 4,500 pixels may be scaled down. Smaller images generally keep their original dimensions.

Can I use it on a phone or tablet?

Yes. The interface is responsive and works in modern mobile browsers.

What quality setting should I choose?

For many photos, 70% to 85% offers a useful balance. Use a higher value for detailed images or a lower value when file size matters more.
